Interesting Sixth Circuit ruling upholds convictions and lengthy sentence for Michigan marijuana dispensary owner
A unanimous Sixth Circuit panel late last week issued a notable lengthy ruling in US v. Trevino, No. 20-1104 (6th Cir. July 30, 2021) (available here), which rejects a Michigan marijuana dispensary owner’s efforts to overturn his convictions and 15+-year federal prison sentence. A key aspect of the ruling throughout was the finding that Daniel Trevino, operating a marijuana dispensary from 2010 to 2017, was not strictly in compliance with the Michigan’s medical marijuana law.
